DÍA02Middle of the World & Historic UNESCO Colonial Quito
Middle of the World & Historic UNESCO Colonial Quito
Begin your day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel before setting out on an unforgettable journey through the Middle of the World. Our first stop is the Pululahua Crater, whose name means “smoke of water” in the indigenous Quichua language. Pululahua is an inactive volcano and one of the few places on Earth as spectacular as this natural wonder. It is also home to one of only two inhabited volcanic craters in the world. After admiring the breathtaking views, we continue to the Intiñan Museum, where your tour guide will demonstrate fascinating physics experiments that prove you are standing exactly at latitude 0° 0’ 0’’ . The tour continues with a stroll through the Middle of the World City, a charming colonial-style town. Upon entering, you’ll walk along Geodetic Avenue, flanked by 13 stone busts honoring the members of the French Geodesic Mission, who arrived in Ecuador in 1736. Inside the complex stands the iconic Equator Monument, a nine-story structure offering panoramic views of this unique location at the center of the world. Here, you will enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, featuring a set menu and one included drink.
After lunch, the adventure continues with a transfer to Quito's historic center, the largest and best-preserved in the Americas. Declared the first World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1978, this enchanting area invites you to step back in time and experience its narrow cobblestone streets, volcanic stone buildings, historic monasteries, and stunning baroque and gothic churches. Enjoy a walking tour of Quito’s main squares, each telling a story of the city’s rich history: Independence Square, the vibrant heart of Old Town, surrounded by the Cathedral, Presidential Palace, Municipal Building, and Archbishop’s Palace, El Sagrario Church and La Compañía Church, masterpieces of Latin American baroque architecture, with interiors adorned in dazzling gold leaf. Stroll through San Francisco Square, Santo Domingo Square, and La Ronda Street, Quito’s oldest street, alive with bohemian art, traditional crafts, local flavors, and lively street performances. Indulge in a tasting at an artisanal chocolate shop and savor the exquisite flavors of Ecuador’s finest chocolate. Pause to enjoy panoramic views of the magnificent Basilica del Voto Nacional, a breathtaking architectural landmark. Then, transfer to Panecillo Hill, a natural viewpoint offering stunning views of the Andean landscape and the city’s unique layout. Afterwards, transfer to the hotel.

Española Island: Wildlife & Pristine Beaches
(Española Island) Start your day at Punta Suárez, located on Española Island, one of the oldest islands in the archipelago and a true paradise for nature lovers. This remote site is world-famous as the only location where the endemic waved albatross nests, offering a unique opportunity to observe this remarkable species during its breeding season (April to December). During a guided hike of approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes across rocky terrain, explore dramatic coastal cliffs, natural blowholes that spray seawater high into the air, and extensive seabird colonies. One of the highlights is witnessing the waved albatross’ fascinating courtship ritual, a complex display of movements and sounds considered one of the most extraordinary in the animal kingdom. Its long stretch of pristine white sand and turquoise waters creates an idyllic setting, perfect for unwinding after the morning’s exploration. After disembarking, enjoy a guided walk along a unique greenishsand beach, its color due to volcanic olivine crystals, that leads to a lagoon, frequently inhabited by pink flamingos. These elegant birds create a vivid contrast with the dark volcanic terrain, offering excellent opportunities for photography and wildlife viewing. Continue to a pristine white-sand beach, composed of finely ground coral, which serves as an important nesting site for green sea turtles, especially during the breeding season.
